can i just admit that i’m a loser & say that i do not like this jojo person, & if i ever met her i would be a very violent fangirl?
that seriously was my first thought lol but then i realized, hey, the boys didn’t write this, a lyricist did, so get a grip of yourself.
i don’t get the step on my eyes part. prolly some metaphor i don’t understand, but correct me if i’m wrong, it’s rare that any korean song actually features a certain name & is addressed to the person? like in english songs there’s “comeon eileen”, “got me on my knees layla”, “stacy’s mum has got it going on” etc lol i’m intrigued by this song now. i really gotta get listening to the album.
haha. I’m sure that this Jo Jo person is supposed to be a substitute for ALL the girls in the world. It doesn’t stop me from being supremely curious as to where the influence came from though…
And I had to change the “step on my eyes” part because it was bugging me too much. I’m going to go with my interpreted meaning, as I usually do.

I swear I reverted back to being a preteen when I heard this and instantly hated whoever JoJo was. What are you doing to me SHINee? Joking aside, I’d probably like this song more if JoJo wasn’t repeated so freaking much. Adding a name to make the lyrics more concrete is fine but when it’s used in nearly every single line, it gets annoying real fast.

Just a thought here…
The name is written JoJo…as if two words smashed together (Jo Jo). Now, I don’t in anyway think that the person in charge of the lyrics would’ve known enough variations and dialects of English to come up with this, but ‘Jo’ does exist in English…specially in Scotland a ’sweetheart’ or bf/gf can be referred to as ‘Jo’.
Also, my electronic Korean dictionary translates (English-Korean) Jo - 애인 (lover, sweetheart).
This was just a funny thought and I doubt it…but that would explain the weirdness of having a (Korean) song addressed to a (named)person, instead of a ‘thing’ (lover).

In my own interpretation of the song, it’s like the girl (Jojo) had some terminal disease and left the guy. But after the guy realized that she passed away, he got angry because she didn’t tell him about his problems. Because they say “When the bitter music stops, I will send you away.” Which I kinda think it means he’ll let her go.
Idk, just my own opinion.

Then, at the very very end of the mv, they find out why she broke up with them, and go to the hospital, to find out that she died, and the last scene is at the graveyard..T.T
